Help is finally here - lead a more Gluten Free Lifestyle !

Food has changed dramatically over recent decades. There are so many additives put into food that were not present years ago. The majority of these do nothing to enhance nutritional benefits. They are merely included for commercial purposes to increase profits for business. Even many of our crops are genetically modified to speed up growth and control appearance. Gluten is just one of the products that are added, but unfortunately many people cannot tolerate it. This is why thousands are seeking a more gluten free lifestyle.

It’s almost cool to live a Gluten Free Lifestyle these days and there are many tasty alternatives for people whose bodies do not tolerate wheat and gluten.

There is so much coverage on the topic, newspapers, television, online media and even major food producers are sitting up and taking notice of changing eating requirements. Choosing a gluten free lifestyle is increasingly common. Many gluten free cookbooks are becoming available for those that cook at home with the best books accessible instantly online. In addition more restaurants are now incorporating gluten free choices in their menus. There was a time when this condition was not diagnosed correctly or even at all. Millions of people would needlessly suffer from gluten cramps, constant tiredness and not to mention the ever present fear of having to suddenly rush to the bathroom. This situation can be avoided or at the very least minimised and it all begins from trying to understand where the problem stems from. Although I personally don’t suffer food in-tolerances, my young children do, especially to foods containing gluten. I needed to find alternatives so I did lots of research to find better ways for them to cope.

—————————————————————-

Gluten Explained

So what exactly is gluten and why would you choose to live a gluten free lifestyle ?

In simple terms, Gluten is a protein found in wheat, oats, rye and barley. It is a natural source of protein in foods that contain these grains and is often added to foods that are otherwise lacking or are low in protein. For some people this is not an issue and they can continue eating products that contain these grains or buy products that contain their protein, however there are many people that are not able to tolerate gluten. This is were a gluten free lifestyle can help.

In particular, people that suffer from Celiac disease are more sensitive to the gluten which can cause damage to the small bowel. Others are affected in different way. Here are some basic symptoms of possible gluten intolerance

- Feeling Tired & Drained

- Stomach Cramps

- Diarrhoea

- Weight Loss

- Iron & Folic deficiency….. and the list goes on

There are many people that are in desperate need of help. A gluten free lifestyle can quickly change your enjoyment of life.

It is estimated by the scientific research community that more than 1% of the general population are gluten intolerant. To put that into perspective, let me show you how many people in the world and in major countries are affected:

GLOBAL

66,000,000 people with gluten intolerance

EUROPE

7,300,000 people with gluten intolerance

USA

3,400,000 people with gluten intolerance

SOUTH AMERICA

330,000 people with gluten intolerance

UNITED KINGDOM

609,000 people with gluten intolerance

AUSTRALIA

210,000 people with gluten intolerance

Practically every research paper on the subject concludes that the figures are rising and each generation is becoming more intolerant to gluten as they age. This means that people who can eat gluten today are at risk of becoming intolerant as they get older due to the way our bodies work.

Once you have established that your body is adversely affected by consuming food containing gluten, a gluten free lifestyle is usually most beneficial to completely remove it from your diet. Even small amounts can cause repeated damage so it is important to eliminate the risk by eating Gluten Free alternatives. Unfortunately there are not many resources available for people suffering this condition.

———————————————————–

Gluten Free Snacks – How Do You Know What You Should Eat?

Gluten allergies can really make life hard at times. But, of course, if you’re here reading this, then this is something you already know.

Those of us that have intolerance to gluten, gluten allergies, celiac disease, and the like have had to completely change how we eat and why. It’s not just about managing pain and discomfort. Switching to a gluten-free lifestyle can also keep the digestive system healthy and from experiencing long-lasting damaging effects.

Thing is, though, that when many start to take on a gluten free diet, they don’t think broad enough. Most consider foods at a ‘higher’ level so-to-speak. In other words, they think of the stuff meals are made of. But there is a lot more that should be considered.

For instance, are you ensuring that the small snacks you eat are gluten free as well?

Do you even know what sort of gluten free snacks you should be eating?

Gluten Free Snacks – What to Look For

This is going to sound like a very simple recommendation for your gluten free snacks…probably because it is (lol).

But when you’re looking to determine what would make good gluten free snacks, just use the exact same principles and decision-making processes that you’d use to determine if a food would be right for you to eat as a part of a main meal.

I see and talk to people that apply this thinking to their meals and such, but not to condiments, drinks, or if something makes good gluten free snacks. And that just makes no sense.

There is no point in starting out correctly and eliminating most of the gluten from your diet with your meals, only to pretty much just shoot yourself in the foot and not choose proper gluten free snacks as well. Your body doesn’t care when or how you eat gluten – it doesn’t matter if it’s during lunch or that quick bite you grab to tide you over until dinner. Gluten is gluten and will affect your body the same way whenever you eat it.

Pick gluten free snacks and make sure you don’t make this mistake.

Are Your ‘Gluten Free Snacks’ Really Gluten Free?

As you by no doubt know now, reading food labels is something you’re going to have to get really good at if you want to maintain a gluten free lifestyle.

(NOTE – I talked about this a decent amount in the ‘Is Rice Gluten Free?’ article elsewhere on this site.)

Unfortunately for you and me, though, when I say ‘reading food labels’ is something you have to get really good at, I mean reading food labels is something you have to get really good at…as in turning the item around and actually reading the contents of what’s it it. Too many times just glancing at what the front of the label has to say won’t be enough…or it could be downright deceiving.

You’d think that something as simple as picking gluten free snacks would be straight-forward, right? Well, that’s just not always the case. Many times, the front of food labels just don’t tell you the whole story.

For instance, I was at the store to to pick up some gluten free snacks the other day, and was looking at some trail mix. It caught my eye because right there on the front of the package in big, bright red letters, it said “NO GLUTEN ADDED”.

I was excited as I love trail mix (so do my kids) and I’d not found a good one yet that didn’t contain gluten – trail mix isn’t the easiest of gluten free snacks to find.

Anyway, I turned the bag around to read the contents – just to be on the safe side. And what do you know….gluten.

See, the company who made the trail mix could get away with trying to pawn it off as one of their gluten free snacks by putting ‘no gluten added’ on the package. And this was true – they didn’t add any gluten. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any gluten naturally in the product in the first place.

See how they try to pull a ‘fast one’ on you?

Your Best Bet For Gluten Free Snacks…

If gluten free snacks are going to be a part of your diet, your best bet is probably to just make your own. You’ll find a few things here and there you can get pre-packaged, and that’s fine. But making your own gluten free snacks is the smartest idea – and the easiest way to ensure you’re not getting any gluten in them.

But what if you’re not that creative in the kitchen? (That’s my problem.) What should you use? How do you make gluten free snacks?

Well, personally, I’d just pick up Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook and let her tell you what to do.

When I first found out I was gluten intolerant, I started looking around for something to educate me on what I needed to do to live a gluten free lifestyle. I didn’t know anything about how to read food labels, am not very handy in the kitchen, and only had a real basic idea of what and how I should eat for meals, let alone gluten free snacks.

A friend of a friend is also gluten intolerant, and she had picked up Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook. She was thoroughly impressed, so she told me I should, too. I went right home, purchased it, and downloaded it.

Roughly an hour or so later, I’d read most of the book and couldn’t believe how good it was. I felt so much more informed and like I had a real guide on how to proceed through my life gluten free.

Originally, I was only looking for information on gluten free foods (what were good gluten free snacks, did certain favorite foods of mine contain gluten, what about drinks, etc). But I learned much more than that. Felicity taught me:

how to read food labels effectively (<-this is why I was mentioning it before)

what makes a good gluten free replacement for what you can no longer eat

a simple way to boost energy levels

TONS of great (and super-easy to prepare) gluten free snacks and recipes

what I should do if I accidently eat something with gluten (<-I had to use this not 3 days after I got Felicity’s book)

how to go about ordering meals the right way at restaurants

All that just scratches the surface, really. I’ve actually gone back and read Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook twice more, and gotten more out of it each time I’ve read it. In fact, that’s one of the things I like so much about the book – Felicity writes in a real easy to understand way that makes all this stuff pretty simple…or at least a lot more than my doctor eve did, anyway.

In fact, on my next trip to the grocery store, I ended up saving the money I spent on Felicity’s book on groceries that I no longer should buy (and don’t make good gluten free snacks)…and improved my health at the same time!

You know, I could rave about Felicity’s book all day (I tell all my friends about it – LOL), but instead, why don’t you just go to her site and read about her book yourself? Just click the picture below and you’ll be taken there right away.

I can’t recommend Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook enough – gluten free snacks was just the first thing I learned about, and I can’t imagine trying to lead a gluten free lifestyle for the rest of my life without it.

from the OFFICIAL SITE<<

Please sure to go through the gluten free snacks links here at this site to – I’ve seen various scam sites promising ‘free downloads’ that are usually infected with viruses. These are not legit sites to find out about gluten free snacks and might not be safe to click on.

Is Rice Gluten Free? Do YOU Know What to Look For?

For those of us that need a gluten free diet, we live in a pretty incredible time. For many, many years, those of us that suffered from gluten intolerance, celiac disease, or the like suffered silently, possibly never finding out what we were dealing with or what was causing our pain. However, as information about allergies to gluten became more well-known, we have been able to not only figure out what has been affecting us, but how to deal with it. Couple that with the advent of the internet, and such information is available to almost anybody, meaning living a gluten-free lifestyle is easier than ever.

But as technology and information advances have helped us, they’ve also greatly hindered us…and we might not even know it.

Believe it or not, rice is one such example. Because many gluten sufferers want to know the same thing – “Is Rice Gluten Free“?

Is Rice Gluten Free? Sort Of…

Not being able to deal with the problems that gluten cause, many gluten sufferers of course look for gluten-free alternatives to augment their diet. Rice is one such alternative. But as you can imagine, that gets people asking the all-important question:

“Is Rice Gluten Free?”

And the answer is….sort of.

I know – a pretty non-committal answer (especially for a simple question – ‘is rice gluten free‘?). But stick with me for a second…

The actual food itself is indeed gluten free – so you have that going for you. You no longer have to wonder if is rice gluten free anymore, as all forms of rice are indeed gluten free…

…all forms of rice itself, that is. But that doesn’t mean all forms of rice foods you buy are gluten free, though.

Huh? Is Rice Gluten Free Or Not?

I know…this all sounds a bit confusing. Is rice gluten free or isn’t it?

Rice by itself contains no gluten. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about white rice, whole-grain brown rice, basmati rice, or even black rice. NONE of it has gluten. So that makes any type of rice potentially safe to eat if you are adverse to consuming gluten. No more wondering about if rice is gluten free…is there?

However, the issue that you should be concerned about isn’t necessarily is rice gluten free or not – we know that it is. But it being gluten free doesn’t mean it can’t be prepared in such a way that can still cause you problems.

When you go out to eat, it’s not uncommon for restaurants to cook their rice using chicken stock (broth). And it’s also not uncommon for chicken stock to have some form of gluten in it. The chicken stock is absorbed by the rice during cooking, and now, though the rice doesn’t have gluten naturally, it now contains it due to how it was cooked.

See what I mean? You could be trying to consume a gluten free food, only to not be and not even know it.

Labels – Are You Reading Them to See Is Rice Gluten Free?

There is something else you should be considering the “is rice gluten free” issue: pre-packaged and prepared foods.

There are a number of rice-based meals and side dishes that you can get that should be mostly rice. And they likely are, however, it is very likely that the food still contains gluten in it as a form of additive. (This is very common in rice-based boxed side dishes that you could cook yourself.) So while you think you’re ‘safe’ eating rice, it’s very possible that you’d be consuming gluten and not even knowing it.

(So much for the question of ‘is rice gluten free’ being a simple answer.)

Something else to watch out for is packaging that makes mention of “no gluten added”. Normally, you’d think this would be a good thing, right? Now while the company isn’t going to lie to you – if it says they didn’t add gluten, then they didn’t add gluten. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some foodstuffs in the meal that didn’t naturally contain gluten already – even if rice is the main ingredient.

So you’d still be consuming gluten…and once again, you wouldn’t know it.

Is Rice Gluten Free – What Should I Do?

I know it can get frustrating that something as simple as rice can still raise such issues with gluten…especially when rice doesn’t even contain gluten in the first place!

There are three main things concerning if is rice gluten free I can recommend that I think will help you, though:

Learn to read labels. This has helped tremendously in my grocery shopping. Gluten is pretty easy to spot on a list of ingredients, and you’d really be surprised just how many foods do have gluten in them…even when you think they wouldn’t. And to the contrary, there are many foods that are gluten free that don’t make mention of it. So learn to read labels to see if is rice gluten free…inform yourself.

Be picky about what you order in restaurants. I’m sure you do this already, but don’t just order anything. Since you don’t know how a restaurant cooks, you can’t be for sure if is rice gluten free. Ask questions about how they prepare foods, and when in doubt, don’t wonder if their is rice gluten free…just order something else.

Pick up Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook

Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook – “Is Rice Gluten Free?” is One of Many Things I Learned…

Not that long ago, I was TOTALLY clueless about how to lead a gluten free lifestyle. All I knew was that I was in pain all the time, and when I was diagnosed with my gluten allergy, I knew I was going to have to make some changes. Problem was that I had no idea what I was doing, what kind of changes I needed to make, and where I needed to go for information.

Enter Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook.

A friend of a friend had recommended Felicity’s program to me (she was also wondering if is rice gluten free), so I decided to check it out. It was pretty cheap, and I figured if I just learned a few things that I could apply to my newly-needed gluten free lifestyle, then it’d be worth it.

When I picked it up, I was seriously blown away.

“Is rice gluten free?” was actually one of the first questions I had when I got the handbook, and I couldn’t believe all the detailed information it had about rice…and LOTS of other foods as well.

I learned all about:

history of gluten, how it makes you sick, and its relationship to celiac disease

what to eat in the place of bread…and bread you *can* eat (<-this was great for me…I love sandwiches, LOL)

how to read labels and order your food at restaurants (<-this is what I was talking about above…I learned it from Felicity)

what to do if you eat gluten on accident (<-this happened to me once…I couldn’t believe the difference)

plenty of gluten free recipes and alternatives

gluten free snacks

This honestly is just the short-list though. When I got Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook, I was also surprised at the bonuses I got. I didn’t even necessarily use them all (like the massage book) but the ‘modern health’ and ‘personal development’ bonus materials were so good that I would have honestly paid for them separately.

Don’t Wonder “Is Rice Gluten Free” (or Anything Else) Anymore

Here’s what I want you to do – click on the picture below, so you can read about Felicity’s Gluten Free Handbook for yourself. It made an AMAZING difference in my life, health, well-being, and in turn, overall happiness. After getting it, I immediately turned around and recommended it to one of my Facebook friends who also deals with gluten issues, and after she got it, she couldn’t believe the difference it made in her life, too.

I think you’ll be very surprised at everything you learn from Felicity, and how you can change your life for the better with her handbook. You’ll never have to wonder “Is Rice Gluten Free”…or any other food, for that matter…ever again.

Having healthy gluten free snacks available can often be a challenge. Gluten runs rampant in many packaged snack foods, especially in many popular ones. However, there are a number of whole foods that make great snacks which are easily found, if you know what to look for. Here are a few ideas for items you can keep on hand that work quite well to satisfy those between meal cravings.

One of the most important concepts to keep in mind for gluten free diets is to plan ahead for possible hunger attacks. If a sudden craving should strike, the local convenience store or vending machine may not provide the foods you need. Be sure to keep some the following items in your food inventory at all times. All of these will need little or no preparation other than placing them in a bag or container when you expect to be on the go.

Fruits are one of the best gluten free snacks and come in a stunning variety of ways to eat them. Raw fruit is the easiest form and apples, oranges, pears or peaches are handy most of the time. However, fruit is best when it is fresh and sometimes storage can be a consideration. When keeping fruit for extended periods, such as at the office or at school, dried fruits are extremely portable. Canned fruit with pop top lids is also convenient and tasty.

Almonds, cashews, peanuts, mixed nuts or sunflower seeds can be bought in bulk for home use and put into zipper bags for traveling about. You can even make your own trail mix with your favorite assortment of nuts, raisins or other dried fruits and dark chocolate chips if desired. Small pretzels and cereals without gluten can be added as well. The variety here is virtually endless. Cheeses, boiled eggs and vegetables are also healthy and handy.

There are, of course, many prepared package items that you can purchase and keep nearby. Just be sure to read the labels carefully and make sure there are no ingredients that don’t fit your diet plan when stocking up on gluten free snacks.

Many people have to follow gluten free diets that are specified for Celiac disease. Having this disease means that your intestines cannot handle the protein gluten in wheat products. The intestines are greatly affected by the protein in that it causes severe inflammation in the intestinal lining, thus producing an environment that lessens the absorption of nutrients from any foods eaten.

Hundreds of food products contain gluten and for a variety of reasons. You can find, however, many of these foods that are labeled gluten free and are safe for consumption. Some foods that do include this protein are breads, cakes, cereals, some candies, gravies, processed lunch meats, and pastas. You can get a list of the kinds of foods you should avoid on gluten free diets in addition to these from your doctor.

While foods are the main culprit for containing gluten, you might be surprised to know that there are other products that also use it in their list of ingredients. Lipsticks, lip balms, play dough, and many brands of toothpaste contain it as well. You should pay close attention to the ingredients in all the products you plan to use.

If you have trouble tolerating gluten, you should know that there a lot of foods that you can eat without the worry of symptoms arising. Fresh meats, fruits, potatoes, rice, and many dairy products do not contain gluten and can make a large portion of a healthy diet. There are also becoming available many foods that are being made as gluten free that normally contain it. Look for these kinds of products that are labeled as gluten free.

To be on the safe side, you should talk to your doctor about what kind of multivitamin would be safe for people on gluten free diets to ensure that you are getting all the essential vitamins and minerals that you need. Make sure to ask the doctor first because some pills are formulated with gluten as a binding agent.

If you have to watch out for those foods that contain gluten from wheat, do you know what foods are gluten free? There are a lot of foods that do not contain gluten and do not have to be prepared in kind of special way. This is great news for those that thought they had to make great limits in their diet to remain symptom free.

One of the choices you have for foods that do not contain gluten is that of fresh meats. The only thing you will need to be careful of is the breading that many people use in preparing some meats. You can go online and find many recipes for preparing fresh meats with breading substitutes.

If you are stuck on trying to figure out what foods are gluten free for your snacks then you will have no kind of limits with fresh fruits. There are numerous choices available from apples to passions fruit. You should make it a point to shop frequently at fresh markets that have some of the best choices in fresh fruits. You may also have no limits when it comes to fresh vegetables either. Making a trip to a fresh produce market can mean that you take home plenty of foods that are not only really good for you but also gluten free.

Just because you are not allowed to have gluten in your diet does not mean that you cannot satisfy that sweet tooth. White and brown sugars are gluten free. While the flour generally used for cakes and cookies does have gluten, you can also go online and find recipes for flour substitutes that work well for making some delicious sweet treats.

You can also have many dairy products while avoiding gluten. Ice cream and yogurt are two favorites that you can have plenty of. For all the products that you buy that are already prepared, always make sure to check the labeling to make sure they are indeed gluten free.

So, if you want to discover what foods are gluten free, you have only to stick to those which don’t have wheat!

For those that have wheat intolerance, they may be experiencing some of the same kinds of symptoms as those of a wheat allergy. These are two similar conditions, but you should know that they are not the same. If you have a intolerance to wheat, your body does not experience an allergic reaction, but a chemical reaction.

Wheat has been a huge part of peoples diets for thousands of years. When the starch is taken from the wheat grains, you have left a protein called gluten. It is this protein that helps make sure that bread does not fall apart when it is baked. Gluten is also present in many other foods like pasta and even soy sauce.

Researchers and doctors do not know the reasons why some people are so sensitive to the protein gluten. Symptoms begin to appear because gluten interferes with the epithelial lining that is in the intestines. When this happens, the sufferer can no longer absorb the nutrients in foods. This leads to many other kinds of diseases.

Some of the symptoms that come with wheat intolerance to gluten in wheat are similar to those symptoms that are associated with many other kinds of conditions as well. This makes for a hard time in diagnosing exactly what may be causing them. You might have chest pains, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, stomach bloating, joint pain, and depression.

There is a specific test that can help in the correct diagnosis of wheat intolerance. It is the same test that is ordered for those thought to have Celiac Disease. You should also begin keeping up with the foods that you are eating while at home as well. Keeping a journal of those foods that eaten will help your doctor when it comes to getting to the bottom of your symptoms. Once properly diagnosed, those that suffer with this condition can lead a healthy life.
